We appreciate your interest in mentoring a student. Mentoring is a research-based intervention that promotes positive youth development by building developmental assets and resiliency, both factors needed in order to successfully navigate school and life.
Project IMPACT is a school-based mentoring program that matches men and women in the community with youth in MISD schools. Once matched these mentors and students meet and have lunch together for 30 minutes once a week. At its most basic level, mentoring helps because it guarantees a young person that there is someone who cares about them. A child is not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges.
It is remarkable how contributing something seemingly small like an hour of one’s time can make such a big difference in a child’s life. Thank you for your interest in Project IMPACT.
